Many high rises throughout the country are going green, literally. Buildings in Chicago, and one day in Summerlin, are beginning to install green roofs. Environmentally friendly materials or solar panels aren't what these roofs are made from. Here, you can plant everything from poppies to basil.
Potted plants have dressed up rooftops for ages but this new type of roofing allows for plants to physically root and comes equipped with a special drainage system. Green roofing allows for many benefits. Overall, cooling needs are reduced by more than 25 percent, diminishing the greenhouse effect. The heat from concrete and blacktop is absorbed tremendously by plants.
A flat, black roof is not as visually pleasing than a rooftop nursery. Whether you grow grass, flowers, or brush, you now have a place to stop and smell the roses. As of now, green roofing is only found in the big city, however, keep a lookout for Summerlin homes going green. More ...

You must do some meticulous planning prior to installing an upstairs laundry room in your Summerlin home . If you don't, you might have to deal with water damage or structural obstacles if the job is executed incorrectly.
To ensure your house will sustain the extra weight and vibrations from a washer and dryer, it is smart to bring in an architect and maybe even a structural engineer. By following these simple steps, you can safely add upstairs laundry and increase the price value of your Summerlin home . More ...

Summer is currently in full bloom. Energy to run the AC has become limited as heat waves sweep through most of the U.S. If your Summerlin home is without AC, there are a few things you can do to cool down.
First, place something frozen in your hand for as long as possible. This can lower you body temperature by as much as 3 degrees F and will last for more than an hour. Stop if it starts to hurt. Even if you are not thirsty, drink plenty of H2O. You will need to compensate for all of the fluids depleted from perspiration. Keep out of direct sunlight. If you have to go outside, cover up with airy, loose-fitting clothing.
Turn off all the lights and all other heat sources, like the computer. Take a cool shower or bath, making sure you get your hair wet. Place a damp towel behind your neck, on your forehead, on the inside of your wrists and elbows, and on the backs of your knees. The rest of your body will naturally cool down by cooling these points.
If all else fails, go to the library, a bookstore, or other air-conditioned location. Roughing it for a few days should not be too difficult After all, people have lived for many years without AC. More ...
