Throughout the nation, several buildings are literally going green. Green roofs are being set up in Chicago, and perhaps one day in Summerlin. These are not roofs constructed from solar panels or renewable materials. From wildflowers to mint, here you are able to plant everything.

Potted plants have trimed rooftops for years but this new way of roofing allows for plants to actually root and comes complete with a unique drainage system. Green roofing allows for a couple of benefits. Most importantly, the greenhouse effect is lessened as cooling needs are decreased by close to 25 percent. The heat from concrete and blacktop is absorbed tremendously by plants.
