In hot, dry areas, adding a swimming pool is an essential. In cooler regions, many buyers are turned off by the amount of upkeep. A home with a pool will not appeal to some families with young children. The new room you added on is a great place for the kids to play, but you might not have considered how it looks from the outside. A home that does not fit the rest of the house will be difficult to sell.

Be cautious when following design trends. Above the counter sinks and mahogany cabinets will date a home, just like orange carpet. Be smart and think ahead when personalizing your Summerlin home.
