Improvements, such as a new dining room or deck, can add value to your Summerlin home . When the time comes to resell, some renovations might end up costing you.

In hot, dry areas, adding a swimming pool is a requirement. The thought of pool upkeep is enough to turn buyers away in a lot of the cooler regions. A home with a pool might not appeal to some families with young children. The new game room is great, but you probably didn't consider how it looks from the outside. A poorly constructed addition, one that doesn't match the rest of the house, will not sell.

Be wary when following design trends. Just like wood paneling, above counter sinks and bamboo floors will date a home. Be smart and think ahead when personalizing your Summerlin home.
